Siguiendo un estudio previo de Efraín
Castro, Rogelio Ruiz Gomar ofrece noticias biográficas
claras sobre los descendientes del maestro escultor sevillano
Diego Ramírez. Las confusiones entre el arquitecto, escultor
y entallador Pedro Ramírez y su hijo homónimo
de oficio pintor (muertos ambos en 1679, con unos meses de diferencia),
se desvanecen de manera contundente. Lo mismo que se aclaran
los nexos de parentesco con el ensamblador y entallador Laureano
Ramírez y el acuñador José Ramírez.
Y aunque tales noticias vienen simplemente a corroborar o completar
lo ya apuntado por Castro Morales utilizando diferentes fuentes,
también aportan nuevas luces que permitirán llenar
las lagunas que quedan todavía sobre las biografías
de estos artistas, lo mismo que permitirán afinar las
relaciones dadas en el seno mismo de la familia Ramírez
y conocer mejor los vínculos que fueron tejiendo con
distintos miembros de la sociedad novohispana de su tiempo. |

Following a study made by Efraín
Castro, Rogelio Ruiz Gomar offers fresh biographical news
on the descendants of Sevillian master sculptor Diego Ramírez.
The confusion surrounding architect, sculptor and carver Pedro
Ramírez and his artist son of the same name (both of
whom died just a few months apart in 1679), is finally resolved.
Moreover, he also clarifies the kinship ties with assembler
and sculptor Laureano Ramírez and minter José
Ramírez. Although this news actually validates or completes
the data obtained from other sources by Castro Morales, it
also helps fill in some of the gaps in these artists’
biographies, shedding light upon relations within the Ramírez
family and its ties with varying members of the contemporary
society of New Spain. |
