The Print Sources of New Mexican Colonial Hide Paintings

Paintings on hide are one of the most charactenstic produets of refigious art in New Mexico. The articte synthesizes what is known about these paíntings and examines theirformalpecularities in order to grup them by possible author. By identifying the icongraphíc sources, both European and Mexican, of some of these paintings, the author expands the cultural contexts within which they can be examined.
