Abstract
Vincent van Gogh’s troubled life has excessively influenced the analysis of this pictorial production. In fact, behind the image of the “crazy” and “expressionist” artist, there was always a painter who was aware of the esthetic theories of this time––especially of the work of Charles Blanc––and who consciously and sistematically preoccupied with the search for general solution to the problems of representation and the relationships among colors. This conclusion, as well as the body of this article, is based above all, on te study of Van Gogh’s correspondenceDownloads
